Joining the Blogging Alliance of Non-Partisan Canadians
Mission Statement
The Waterloo-Wellington Bloggers Association gathers together bloggers from Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph and the townships of Waterloo Region and Wellington County in an expression of solidarity within our diverse and growing region.
But Why?
Blogroll alliances foster a sense of community within the blogosphere, creating regional identities and driving traffic to sites surfers might not otherwise have heard of. One of the first region-based blogroll alliances in the Canadian blogosphere was the GTA Bloggers. It helped put Toronto on the blogging map, and provided a venue within which Toronto-area bloggers could meet, share traffic, make new friends and otherwise enrich themselves.
Waterloo Region and Wellington County share a distinct character and history separate from the Greater Toronto Area. At the same time, we can boast a growing population and a diverse economy with an interest in, among other things, high tech. With three universities, one major technical college, hundreds of high tech corporations and a thriving artistic community, we have a strong blogger base, and it is time we had a blogging association that reflects our distinct and forward-looking community.
Do I Qualify?
If you operate a blog and you live or work in Waterloo Region, Wellington County or the City of Guelph, you are welcome to join the Waterloo-Wellington Bloggers Association. We also happily accept any Waterloo-Wellington expatriates.
We do reserve the right to refuse membership, however, to pornographic websites, sites advocating hate in contravention of Canada's legal code, or other things that could get members of this alliance into trouble. Not that we expect to exercise this right in the foreseeable future.
